CREATIVE WRITING
You Can’t Start
You can’t start.
The screen, the page, the To Do list. You can’t start.
First, you need to make sure you are Well Read. Well Versed. You need to know what you are Talking About. First, you need to go to Things, talk to People, get Involved. But you can’t. You are Interested. But you aren’t Going. You don’t Go. You want to do the Thing. But you don’t.
You watch yourself as you sit and do nothing.
You used to be Good, but that was when it didn’t matter. Now it’s as though everyone around you went to some seminar that you slept through. They all know what they Are Doing. But you don’t. You are the only one who doesn’t know what they Are Doing.
When did this happen. When did everybody start A Network. How do you get in The Network. You missed the opportunity to get in The Network. What were you doing.
Go to that Thing. Alone. You will know someone there. It will be Super Chill. You will bump into someone you know and you will strike up a Super Chill Casual Conversation About Art. When did everyone stop chatting. Walk around a bit and look like you’re looking. Take a photo for Instagram. Tag, you were There. Leave.
At least now you can Write About It. But first you need to cook dinner. First just clean. First just do the laundry. First just sit for a bit. It’s ok to just sit. Watch a bit of trash. Just for a bit. You’ll start in a second. In a minute. After the show. Tomorrow.
Look, there is an Opportunity. What an Amazing Opportunity. You should apply for the Opportunity. But you didn’t start when you were supposed to. If you had started then you would have it now. But you didn’t start. What a waste. Start now and you will be ready for the next one. Start Now.
Start.
Now.
You Can’t.
What if.
It’s wrong.
Or Rejected.
Or just
Just.
Start.
